Bye Bye Creatives, Bloggers, & Grease Monkeys

by Jared on March 29th, 2006

Don’t you just love it when magazines make profound statements about the future? That’s right – I’m talking FAST COMPANY Magazine!

Their newest issue features 6 jobs that won’t exist in 2016 and guess who doesn’t get the ax?  Marketers! (At least the ones that happen to show their ROI from time-to-time).

I can’t say I am surprised by their predictions but it’s always fun to see what they do and do not say explicitly.  Do you have thoughts on the matter?

Forum Discussion Topic: How To Break Into Marketing

by Jared on November 4th, 2005

Here is a quick question from the viewer mail files:

G’day Jared;

What do you think is the best way for someone in my situation to gain
employment in the marketing field? Should I start working in a Computing
role with a company with a reputable Marketing department and then transfer
in once I have sufficient experience? Should I begin in any position in a
marketing department, until my education “kicks in”? Should I keep my
current job and find a volunteer role in Marketing?

Keep up the good work. Albert Maroochi is a boring as bat-shit, isn’t he?

Regards;
Kiran

Well Kiran – as I mentioned on Episode #14, I agree that you need to have a track record or education in marketing before you can really try to ‘break into’ it.

Let’s open up this question for discussion, shall we?
