MBA Spin: Final Exam - Leadership Communications
by Jared on December 10th, 2007
Normally, I would tell you that professional comedy isn’t one of my strong suits. In this case however, peg it to the completion of my first semester in business school and see how well I slide into the roll:
So yes, if you are asking how things are here at Vanderbilt, I am doing just fine ;).

Ain’t nothin’ gonna break my stride!
by Jared on April 19th, 2007
It’s Thursday morning, 8:30 am and I’ve been in the office for 45 minutes. I’ve already…
- Written one stop-gap sidebar article for our magazine,
- Sent out 5 e-mails on 3 different projects,
- Had a pedi-conference with the CEO,
- And been given a mini-lecture by my boss about the chain of command because of said pedi-conference.
….I can already tell today is going to be a good day.
The point of this post is more just a re-cap more than anything else.
The iTunes Feed
I realize the iTunes feed has been wonky and I am taking steps to correct it. In fact, look for the last three episodes to be re-posted in rapid succession to get things straight in case you’ve been wondering why you’ve been getting old episodes under new titles.
Owen Welcome Weekend
Yes, I will be in Nashville this weekend for Vanderbilt-Owen’s Welcome Weekend. Look for blog postings at my OwenBloggers Feed as well as plenty of photos and/or video depending on how well I can balance things.
Next Episode
While I was in Atlanta, I did complete a new episode - more of a rant than anything else - and that should go up this weekend.
This should cover just about everything but in the meantime, send some love because I am totally in the marketing weeds right now and need to keep this momentum going to dig myself out.

The Washington Post has been publishing a series of video biographies called onBeing.
It’s a great examination of diversity and a way of looking at real life that actually makes the cultural calamity of modern Washington look…well, realistic.
Today, they published another great video that’s worth sharing.
I’ll let you check it out for yourselves, but from someone who has dated neurotic guys from Puerto Rico - this left me gasping for air because it was so funny (and on point).
ps…yay for off-topic posts!
When the only thing in your in-box is a fish and an iPod
by Jared on March 29th, 2007
Since my co-worker has been on maternity leave, I have been busier than a one armed man in a dodgeball game.
You can see then, after a day of intense productivity, it comes as a moment of zen to see this…

I don’t know why but I feel like there should be a country song to accompany this. Perhaps the lyrics could go something like…
“When it’s been a hell of a day,
and all you got left is a fish in your inbox,
that’s when you know its…
TIME TO GO HOME!”
Bonus Vidcast: Behind The Scenes of 20SM @ Katsucon ‘07
by Jared on February 20th, 2007
As I mentioned in Episode #59, I took some video of our trip to Katsucon ’07. Its a fun (and disturbing) look behind the scenes at what it sometimes takes for us to get content for a single show. Like I said, I promised you a Bonus Vidcast where we make morons out of ourselves, and damn it, - that’s what we deliver! Enjoy!
Just call me lazy
by Jared on February 19th, 2007
I’ve begun to think that there is very little reading the paper a good cup of coffee and a bit of jazz can’t fix.
Like most, I have the day off and am stuck trying to decide what I want to do. I could a) catch up on some work I have been putting off with my extra-curricular projects b) call a friend or two to get together or c) got back to my coffee and paper.
Amazingly, I doubt if I’ll settle on anything besides “c†but it’s nice to know I have options.
Happy President’s Day Everyone…Have a great day off!
One more blog to tag…Starbucks365.com
by Jared on February 6th, 2007
Ok, so apparently I left one out…
Usually I don’t subject people I know, personally to these things like this but I think you’ll like this one.
365 different starbucks drinks in 365 days. Just because it isn’t on the menu, doesn’t mean you can’t order it.
Yeah, its what you think it is.
Support the Special Olympics; Help me Freeze Wesley!
by Jared on January 23rd, 2007
This is my friend; Wesley…

Wesley wants to throw himself into the Chesapeake Bay to support the Maryland Special Olympics...I haven’t done one of my Bonus Vidcasts in quite some time….You do the math!
To egg him on, I say we all donate just 5 bucks to his cause and then we can sit back, relax and watch his body hair flee in horror of the frigid winter temperatures.
